Methods to predict the outcome of HPV-induced cervical intra-epithelial neoplasia 1

Based on a prospective study including 86 women affected by cervical intra-epithelial neoplasia 1(CIN-1), we propose a method to foreseen the probability of spontaneous regression of CIN1 associated with human papillomaviruses (HPV) by determining the following 2 biologic markers:

- the presence of the human leukocyte antigen HLA-DRB1*1302 allele, and

- the absence of human papillomaviruses (HPV 16, HPV 18 and eventually HPV 45).

As a matter of fact, the study has demonstrated that in the group of patient with HLA-DRB1*13 and without HPV 16/18, the regression rate was 90,5%. On the contrary, the rate goes down to 32% in patients with non HLA-DRB1*13 allele and presenting HPV induced CIN-1.
