Description

Justin Eyquem, PhD, is an Assistant Professor in the Division of Hematology and Oncology at UCSF. He holds Master’s degrees in bioengineering and genetics from  AgroParisTech and the University Paris VII. He earned his PhD from University Paris VII and trained as a postdoc in the laboratory of Michel Sadelain at MSKCC. In 2019, he joined UCSF as a Parker Fellow and became an Assistant Professor in 2021. His research focuses on optimizing CAR-T cells to fight cancers and other diseases. He has pioneered methods to edit the genome of human and murine T cells; and developed techniques to reprogram their functions both outside the body (ex vivo) and inside the body (in vivo). Additionally, he leads a preclinical team dedicated at designing and facilitating the manufacturing of CAR-T cells for a UCSF clinical pipeline. His work has earned him several awards, including the 2019 Parker Fellow Award, the 2023 ASGCT Outstanding New Investigator Award, and the 2024 Pew-Stewart Award.
