Institut Curie is a major player in the research and fight against cancer. It consists of a hospital group and a Research Center of more than 1000 employees with a strong international representativeness.

The objective of the Research Center is to develop basic research and to use the knowledge produced to improve the diagnosis, prognosis, and therapeutics of cancers as part of the continuum between basic research and innovation serving the patient.

Laboratory
We are seeking a motivated and productive bioinformatician (M/F) to join our team “Replication Program and Genome Instability” ( Team CHEN ) at the Institut Curie, Paris, France. The team focuses on using cutting-edge high-throughput genomic approaches and genome-wide data analyses to study the spatio-temporal replication program of the human genome and how replication stress impacts on genome stability in normal and cancer cells, in population as well as at single molecule/cell level.

The project
The ANR “SMART” investigates the mechanisms of DNA double-strand break (DSB) repair, with a particular focus on homologous recombination (HR)—a critical pathway for maintaining genome integrity. DSBs arise both accidentally, such as during replication stress, and deliberately, as in meiosis where they facilitate accurate chromosome segregation. Failure to properly repair these breaks can lead to genomic instability, contributing to diseases such as cancer and neurodegenerative disorders.
“SMART” brings together an interdisciplinary expertise in molecular biology, genomics, and bioinformatics. Our goal is to explore how HR is regulated and how it interfaces with chromatin structure and the spatial organization of the genome. We employ cutting-edge technologies including high-throughput single-molecule sequencing and advanced imaging approaches. The project is carried in close collaboration between our genome analysis team, the bioinformatics/sequencing/genomics platforms of Institut Curie, and the teams of V. Bord (I. Curie, Paris) and G. Legube (LBCMCP, Toulouse) the worldwide experimental biologist experts in DNA recombination and DNA repair.
The ideal candidate should hold a Master/Engineer diploma with strong computational skills, a solid understanding of genome biology, and a keen interest in molecular mechanisms of DNA replication and repair. Experience in third-generation sequencing data (e.g. Nanopore and high-throughput imaging datasets are highly desired.
You will contribute to the development and application of pipelines and computational models to analyze complex genomic and imaging data. This position offers a unique opportunity to work at the interface of biology and data science, in a dynamic environment tackling fundamental questions in genome stability.
Constraints and risks:
• Occasional travel: to attend project meetings, workshops, or conferences with collaborators.
• Prolonged sitting:Ergonomic accommodation can be arranged to mitigate discomfort.
Training and Skills required:
• Hold Master degree or Engineer diploma with experience in biology, bioinformatics, or related areas.

• Scientific skills:
• Solid computational/statistical skills (Python, CWL, Perl, R, Linux etc.),
• Solid genomic background (NGS data analysis, comparative genomics, etc.),
• Strong interest in genome biology.

• Skills Desired:
• 3rd Generation sequencing,
• High Performance Computing,
• High-throughput sequencing data analysis,
• Lineage tracing analysis is a plus,
• High-throughput imaging analysis is a plus.

• Language skills: very good English level (working language) and communication skills.

Abilities
• The candidate should be highly motivated, curious and enthusiastic to work in a collaborative team.
• Ability to work independently, managerial abilities, aptitude for working in a team.
