JOHANNA GERSTENECKER

I graduated from the University of Freiburg in Germany in 2024 with a master’s degree in Biochemistry and Biophysics. I had the opportunity to come to Institute Curie for my master's thesis on the topic of curvature induced protein sorting.

Now I am a PhD student in the team and my project focuses on the diffusion dynamics of the multidrug resistance ABC transporter BmrA in respect to its conformation and the surrounding membrane curvature. Combining advanced optical methods with biochemical approaches I will investigate the interplay of membrane mechanics and protein diffusion.
